AI Versus Typing Services

Typing traditionally involves a human typist who manually transcribes audio or written content. However, in the digital age, efficiency and speed are paramount and with the rise of AI-powered typing tools, these do seem to be having an impact on the traditional role of a typist.

It can be argued that AI-based typing tools, such as speech-to-text and natural language processing tools, provide faster and more accurate and affordable transcriptions compared to human typists.

But what about the human touch?

The human touch plays a significant role when it comes to Typing Services offering transcribing and administration services tailored to the individual. Here’s how:

• A lot of typing jobs are not straight forward. Yes, you are transcribing audio to text but quite often they are onto specified templates. A Surveyor recently trialled an AI powered tool to type his Surveyors Reports but after a month, returned to Typing Services, informing me that it was too time consuming to survey and write the report at the same time. So although it saved him money because he wasn’t paying me, it impacted on his time, which was far more precious to him.
• If you are of the older generation it can be confusing to learn how AI powered typing tools work. Technology moves fast and it can be hard for an older person to make sense of it all and the skills do not come naturally to an older person.
• You may prefer the human touch. A laugh and a joke with a typist via email or on the telephone is far more rewarding than working in isolation battling with IT.
• Administration jobs can be varied and complicated and the human element adds a layer of understanding, empathy, and creativity that machines will never be able to replicate.
